Minds (Wide) Open II

Monday, September 12, 2016 to Friday, September 16, 2016

Now in its second year, Minds Wide Open, is a one week intensive event modeled after The One Show Youth Workshop conducted in China, and centers around a student advertising competition. More than 70 students from three different countries will be shuffled into teams, and each team is assigned two professional mentors. All teams are presented with the same brief, and for the next four days, they work on coming up with a campaign addressing the brief. On the 5th day, all teams present the result of their explorations, and winners are picked.

While the teams are at work, mentors and faculty accompanying the teams share their work, or teaching approaches in a series of presentations which take place in the Communication Arts and Sciences building, room 145. These presentations are open to the public, and we are hoping that MMCA members and friends, will take time to hear some amazing creative directors from Germany, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, and yes, also Lansing. The Department of Advertising + Public Relations has invested a pretty penny to bring these folks on campus, we hope you can make it.

The MMCA invites members and friends to attend an evening with MWO guests at Urban Beat, Tuesday, September 13, at 6pm. Food by MEAT, and libations from who cares where, will be offered. And for sure, music. What kind? who knows? Come by, enjoy the company, the food, the drinks, and whatever jam session develops – if you play music, feel free to join.
