2021 American Advertising Awards Judges
Listed below are judges of the 2021 Mid-Michigan Creative Alliance American Advertising Awards. We’d like to thank them for their time and efforts!
Jacob Rosenburg is currently working as an Associate Creative Director of Design for Commonwealth//McCann. He got his design itch back in college at Northern Michigan University where he graduated with a BFA of Design Communication in 2009. Since then, he has worked on gig posters, brand identities, illustrations, icons and even a NASCAR livery or two. With that work, he has been able to win a few awards from Communication Arts, Epica, LIA, and shortlisting at the Clios. Check out his work at Jacobrosenburg.com.
Tom Flanigan is a creative director at FCB Chicago, where he has worked on brands like SC Johnson, Bud Light, Coors, KFC, Kmart, Cox, Valspar, Radio Flyer, GE, and Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. He came to advertising from the Chicago sketch comedy scene; he performed at The Second City ETC stage and worked as a writer for Saturday Night Live. Advertising honors for his film, radio and print work include Cannes Silver and Bronze, D&AD Wood Pencil, One Show, Clio Gold, and a Grand Clio for Sports Advertising for Archer’s Biggest Sports Endorsement Ever. He has served as a judge for the Radio Mercury Awards and the Writers Guild Awards in the sketch comedy and variety category.
Niki Condon is a VP ACD at Cramer Krasselt in Chicago, working on Corona and helping to lead brands like Tropicana, Naked Juice and T. Marzetti. Her 15 years of award-winning expertise have lead her through a myriad of clients from anti-tobacco to lottery, insurance, home goods, fast food, and more CPG brands than you can count on both hands. She’s relaunched brands like Keebler and Special K, thrown headline-making events for both Brown-Forman spirits and P&G, broken into emerging tech for Campbells, shot improv with comedy legend Christopher Guest, and taken esurance to the Super Bowl (er, ahem) ...to “The Big Game.” In her off-hours she’s been known to perform standup, write screenplays, or get back to her Art School roots and paint. Poorly. She’s a passionate creative with an infuriatingly limitless supply of energy that gets thrown into everything she does.
James Thigpen Jr. is an American contemporary artist whose work explores the multifaceted experience of Black culture. Born in Flint, MI, James recalls one of his earliest childhood memories of attending career day in the second grade as an artist. Since that moment, he has worked tirelessly to evolve in his destiny. He completed his undergraduate studies at Mott College and University of Michigan-Flint. During those years, he received faculty recognition as a standout student in his class, gaining two American Advertising Awards as a student and one gold award in the professional category. In 2017, James independently created a partnership with Microsoft® to produce his first digital art experience at their 5th Avenue Flagship store in Manhattan, demonstrating the significance technology has on art. He has continued to exhibit art and lecture upon request for such organizations as The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and even Mott where he once was a student. These exhibits led to him getting the attention of Tommey Walker, CEO of Detroit Vs Everybody. Since then, James has worked with the team to bring life to the company, assisting in critical thinking about where Detroit Vs Everybody is projected to be in a short time.
